Rotary Roundup – September/October

* President David welcomed Elijah Smith to our first September meeting, who spoke enthusiastically about his attendance at the UN Youth national conference. It brought together over 100 young people from Australia and the neighbouring region. The age of information was the topic under consideration. Interesting keynote speakers and plenty of sharing of stories. Lots of fun but some more serious benefits included – Knowledge – sharing of ideas between participants. Friendship – 109 young people meeting together and forming connections. Self – learning to speak more positively and fluently in public. Experiences like these are instrumental in helping young people develop their passion and voice. It was a life changing experience for many young people. Elijah thanked Kapunda Rotary for assisting with funding to enable his attendance at the conference.

* Planning and preparations for the ‘Branched Out’ event BBQ and the highly successful ‘Kapunda Rotary Kidman Art Show’ took up much of our meeting time during these months.

* Of course the Art Show itself consumed much of our remaining time. With much assistance from the Kapunda Art Gallery friends and supporters and various other volunteers, the Art Show was once again a tremendous success. Congratulations to everyone involved. Some amazing works were on display.

2019 Kidman Art Show Results

25 to 30 October 2019

The seventh biennial Kidman Art Show ran from Friday 25th until Wednesday 30th October 2019. The main venue was the Soldiers’ Memorial Hall in Hill Street with the Photographic Exhibition in the Kapunda Community Gallery at the corner of Main and Brown Streets.

The Art Show was again supported by the Light Regional Council and we are also very appreciative of a number of other generous sponsors.

The Kapunda Community Gallery again provided their valuable support and expertise, including staging the Photographic Exhibition in conjunction with the Kidman Art Show.

The Kidman Art Show provides an opportunity for regional artists to compete for generous prizes and to display their work for sale. All proceeds from the Art Show go towards local and international Rotary humanitarian projects.
